Episode 109 features Coach Brian Humphrey of Damascus High School as he joins Kurt & Chelsie from the Capitol Hoops Summer League.
A Damascus alum himself, Coach Humphrey's journey has come full circle. After coaching at Seneca Valley on both the JV and varsity levels, he was called back home to lead the Hornets program and help guide the next generation of Damascus basketball.
Coach Humphrey discusses the culture he's building, the challenges and opportunities that come with competing in Montgomery County basketball and the role Summer League plays in preparing his team for the road ahead. He shares his vision for the Hornets, the importance of player development and what it takes for a program to find consistent success within the highly competitive MCPS landscape.
The conversation also takes a fun turn when Kurt drops the one name that opposing coaches and players feared years ago, giving Coach Humphrey the opportunity to reflect on a memorable era of county basketball and the lasting impact of those who helped shape it.
